Grazing 2018 FAQs

A gentle reminder that you must be over 18 to attend. Sorry folks, no kiddos on course.

When is Grazing Down the Lachlan on?

Saturday 22nd September 2018 with the Meet Your Makers Q&A on the evening of Friday 21 and a community breakfast on Sunday 22.

How do I get a ticket?

They are $150 each + a $6 booking fee and only available on our website. Pre-sale tickets will be released at 9am on Sunday June 24 until midnight 4 July for Friends of Grazing. General release tickets will be available from Thursday July 5 at 6pm until sold out. Set your phone alarm for these dates and if you haven’t already, go and register interest for the general release tickets on the website. http://grazingdownthelachlan.com/#tickets

Tickets to the Friday night  Q&A are available here on the website at the SHOP tab. Due to an overwhelming response there will NO TICKETS AT THE DOOR.

Where is it being held?

It’s held on the Travelling Stock Route (TSR) about 20km southwest of Forbes, on the banks of the Lachlan River. You must catch the event bus to attend. It’s basically a bush track – no joke. But if you have ankles that tend to roll then please strap accordingly! We recommend you wear closed in shoes.

Is the site Wheelchair accessible?

The track is stable for robust wheelchairs only. Please contact us for transport options.

How many people are expected to attend?

We’ve capped numbers at 850 this year.

How do we get to Grazing?

On the day of the event, every single ticket holder will be transported by bus to the site. No other vehicles will be permitted. We will pick everyone (and we mean everyone) up from the Forbes Town Hall. Transport via buses is a logistical measure to ensure that cars aren’t parked on the site, the road is still open, the land is left relatively untouched and we can move everybody off-site in an orderly manner. It’s also a condition of our liquor license.

Can I be on a bus with my friends?

Yes, for sure. You just need to coordinate your bus times when you book your tickets. The only limitation will be the size of your group. If it’s a big group you might be on another bus but in the same time-slot. Buses will leave the special Grazing bus stop at the Town Hall end of Victoria Park every 30mins with the first buses at 11.00 am and the last at 12.30 pm. While you must travel to Grazing on the bus time slot you book, you can jump on any bus returning from Grazing to Forbes from 3pm onwards. There are limited seats available on free buses from Parkes and Condobolin. You need to reserve your seat on these buses when you buy your ticket to Grazing.

So, what happens once on site?

Once you disembark from the bus, you wander down the bush track to the first of 7 food stations. Here is where the fun really begins…At each of the 7 food stations you will be presented with a dish and matched beverage experience that will be out of this world. Each dish has been carefully designed by Mark Olive, our creative director, and then sourced and prepared by a local caterer. They are going to be something special. To avoid waste, each dish will be entirely edible or presented on your event plate.

What will the food be like?

Modern Australian sums it up. The ingredients are sourced locally with an emphasis on indigenous ingredients and we assure you they will be totally edible and totally AMAZING.

What if I have allergies or dietary requirements?

This is a tricky one for us. Given the resources available, the caterers won’t be able to alter the menu for specific intolerances. As much as we’d like to, we’ve come to the realisation that we can’t cater for individual dietary needs. We will list all ingredients for the dishes on a blackboard at each food station so you can make an informed choice. However, for people with serious food allergies, we can’t guarantee that there has been no cross-contamination. Email us for more general info if that helps.

What should I wear?

Grazing Down the Lachlan is going to be held in the bush. With long grass. And bugs. And lizards (and possibly their legless friends.) We suggest you wear covered shoes for starters and then whatever outfit takes your fancy. And definitely bring a hat as the shade will be inconsistent.

Can I bring alcohol?

Absolutely not. This is a sophisticated food and wine event with the emphasis on the whole experience. If anyone brings alcohol, we will treat it like contraband take it and we won’t give it back! (We’ll regard it as a contribution to the committee’s after party). Everyone will be allocated a standard drink at each of the 7 stations, as well as non-alcoholic options.

What should I bring?

Not much! We will have all you need. We will also supply water bottles which can be filled from our water tanks on site. You won’t need cash but perhaps a camera to catch the action on course.

What if it’s wet?

In the event of wet weather we will advise you of an alternative arrangement.
