Grazing 2019 FAQs

A gentle reminder that you must be over 18 to attend. Sorry folks, no kiddos on course.

When is Grazing Down the Lachlan on?

Grazing Down The Lachlan returns to Forbes on Saturday 21 September 2019.

How do I get a ticket?

Friends of Grazing packages on sale 6pm on Monday 1 April 2019. Grants you pre-sale access to 4 tickets to Grazing.

Friends of Grazing pre-sale tickets go on sale at 6pm on Sunday 30 June until midnight Friday 5 July.

General release tickets go on sale Thursday 11 July at 6pm until sold out.

Where is it being held?

Grazing is held on the Travelling Stock Route (TSR) about 20km southwest of Forbes, on the banks of the Lachlan River.

I’m a visitor to the Region. How do I get to Forbes?

Here’s a link to all of your transport options. Come on out!

Is the site wheelchair accessible?

The track is stable for robust wheelchairs only. Please contact us for transport options.

How many people are expected to attend?

How do we get to Grazing?

‘Grazers’ will be transported by bus to the site. No other vehicles will be permitted. Buses will pick everyone (and we mean everyone) up from Forbes Town Hall. This ensures we minimise our impact on the beautiful natural environment.

Can I be on a bus with my friends?

Yes, for sure! Buses leave every 30 minutes from Forbes Town Hall. When purchasing your Grazing ticket, you can select your preferred time-slot. Be sure to coordinate with your crew to ensure you’re on the same bus. When you are ready to head back into to town, you can jump on any bus returning to Forbes from 3pm onwards.

So, what happens once on site?

Once you disembark from the bus, you will wander down the bush track to the first of 7 food stations. Here is where the fun really begins…at each station you will be presented with a dish and matched beverage. To avoid waste, each dish will be entirely edible or presented on your event plate.

What will the food be like?

Modern Australian sums it up. The ingredients are sourced locally with an emphasis on indigenous ingredients and we assure you they will be AMAZING.

What if I have allergies or dietary requirements?

Given the resources available, the caterers aren’t able to alter the menu for specific intolerances. We will list the ingredients on a blackboard at each station so you can make an informed choice. However, for people with serious food allergies, we can’t guarantee that there has been no cross-contamination. Email us for more general info if that helps.

What should I wear?

Grazing Down the Lachlan is held in the bush. With long grass. And bugs. And lizards (and possibly their legless friends.) We suggest you wear covered shoes and a hat!

Can I bring alcohol?

Absolutely not. This is a sophisticated food and wine event with the emphasis on the whole experience. Any alcohol brought on site will be confiscated and considered a contribution to the committee’s after party. Everyone will be allocated a standard drink at each of the 7 stations, as well as non-alcoholic options.

What should I bring?

Not much! You’ll be provided with an event bag with everything you will need.  You won’t need cash but perhaps a camera to catch the action on course. Please do bring any medications on which you rely.

What if it’s wet?

In the event of wet weather we will advise you of an alternative arrangement.

If the weather is looking dicey, updates will be posted on our website and we will endeavor to contact you via text message if you have provided a mobile phone number when booking.

Can I get a refund?

Tickets are non refundable. You can sell (transfer) your ticket to someone else – no problem. However each ticket has its own unique bar code, so take great care to only email or print the ticket that you are selling and hang onto any ticket you plan to use. The bar code will be scanned before you receive the event bag containing your food and beverage tokens, prior to jumping on the bus. If there is a duplicate ticket, someone will miss out!

What if the event is cancelled?

There is a very small possibility of total event cancellation given this planning, and unfortunately in that situation GDTL would still be liable for the event outlays, and therefore does not offer any refunds on ticket purchases.
