Event Information

THE FINER DETAILS

  • When
Grazing Down the Lachlan will be held on Saturday 16 September 2023.
  • Where to meet
Meet at Victoria Park, opposite the Forbes Town Hall on Harold Street. Please arrive fifteen (15) minutes before the allocated departure time on your ticket to have your tickets scanned and to collect your event bag. Event bags will not be available on the trail. You may not pick up event bags for others. You must use the event bus - yep, even the locals. Private transport to the trail contravenes our DA and liquor license and risks future events. At the conclusion of the event, buses will return you to Victoria Park in Forbes. You can choose your own return bus with the earliest bus departing at 3.30pm and the last bus at 5.30pm. You are not permitted to be picked up from the event by friends or family – that DA thing again. If you need to get back to town in an emergency, we can make that happen.
  • What to bring
Grazers are supplied with an event bag containing your food and beverage tokens, cutlery, a plate, a wine glass, a water bottle, a napkin and a site map which includes information about the menu. Pure tested rainwater will be available at every station for you to fill up your water bottle. Please don’t buy bottled water. This is an outdoor event, bring an umbrella or rain gear if rain is forecast. You may want to bring a picnic rug to sit on as there will be limited seats along the track. If you have any medications that you may require on the day like asthma inhalers, epi‐pens and other medications please bring this with you.
  • What to wear
You’ll be wandering across a paddock, very uneven in places – watch your step! Sturdy, covered footwear is a must (thongs, sandals and high heels are just plain wrong) and long pants are probably better than shorts. The weather in September is generally delightful but it can change at short notice so pack a jacket in case of cool or showery conditions. A hat – definitely.
  • Accessibility
The track is suitable for robust wheelchairs and prams. Please contact us for transport options. An accessible toilet is available on site.
  • Level of fitness required
The walk is around 2.5kms and requires only a moderate level of fitness.
  • Food
The ingredients are sourced locally with an emphasis on indigenous ingredients. Given the resources available, the caterers aren’t able to alter the menu for specific intolerances. We will list the ingredients on a blackboard at each station so you can make an informed choice. However, for people with serious food allergies, we can’t guarantee that there has been no cross-contamination.
  • Beverages
Our Creative Director has carefully selected the beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, for all six stations. Rainwater is also available at each station. Please don’t bring your own alcohol. This is a violation of our liquor license.
  • Smoking policy
This is a non smoking event.
  • Children
This is an over 18 event. Sorry folks but no kids, enjoy a child free day. Breast fed babies welcome of course!
  • Dogs
Other than Guide Dogs, it's a no to dogs.
  • Toilet facilities
Portable toilets will be situated along the track, including accessible facilities.
  • First Aid Facilities
A Doctor will be available along the track. In the event of an accident or medical emergency, call one of the phone numbers on the map found in your event bag or alert an event worker. There will be a chill-out tent for anyone feeling a bit delicate.
  • Enter at your own risk
We’ve done our best to cover every base. GDTL, Forbes Shire Council and Local Land Services accept no responsibility for any loss, injury or damages sustained during the walk whether caused by their negligence or otherwise. You enter the event knowingly and entirely at your own risk. Most of all, we wish you an amazing adventure ‘down the Lachlan’. Our Creative Director, volunteer committee, caterers and beverage providores have poured countless hours into building this event from the ground up, just for you. Enjoy!
  • Event Notifications
Important event updates will be posted on our website, social media pages and we will endeavour to contact you via email and/or text message.
  • Cancellation Policy
Cancellation due to Government Restrictions In the event of cancellation due to government restrictions, Grazing Down the Lachlan (GDTL) will endeavour to provide a refund if there is capacity to do so. In this instance, any refunds will be calculated commensurate with costs already outlaid at the time of cancellation. The same conditions apply to those ticket holders unable to attend due to a discrete Covid-19 lockdown or a legal requirement to isolate or stay at home over the time frame of the event. Applications for refunds will be assessed and processed post-event. Please note that the 123 Tix booking fee is non-refundable in any circumstance. Cancellation due to Adverse Weather Conditions If the weather conditions are deemed too dangerous or too unpleasant, GDTL may be cancelled. Unfortunately, in that situation GDTL would still be liable for the event outlays, and therefore does not offer any refunds on ticket purchases. If the weather conditions are fine but the event site is deemed unsuitable (walking track is too wet or damaged), GDTL will be transferred to an alternate venue.
  • Refund Policy
Tickets are non-refundable and not transferable.
  • Tickets
Each ticket has its own unique bar code. The bar code will be scanned before you receive your event bag , prior to jumping on the bus.
