Due to the escalating nature of the latest Covid-19 outbreak, related restrictions and border closures Grazing Down the Lachlan 2021 has been cancelled. The annual foodie adventure, which was last held in 2019, was set to return to the banks of the Lachlan River in Forbes on Saturday 18 September 2021. Chair of the Grazing Down the Lachlan committee Wendy Muffet said, “with just over five weeks to go, we were hopeful that we would be Grazing Down the Lachlan with 700 ticketholders next month.”
“However, the current situation makes it impossible to safely host our foodie adventure. So, it is with great disappointment that we announce the cancellation of this year’s main event, as well as Sundowners by the Lake on Friday 17 September and the Amazing Breakfast on Sunday 19 September.”
“While our dedicated volunteer committee are devastated, the safety of our ticket holders, community, caterers, entertainers, and volunteers is our first priority.” “In making this difficult decision, we must acknowledge our amazing caterers, suppliers, entertainment acts, contractors, and local tourism operators - all of whom are impacted by this decision. A big thank you must also be extended to our sponsors and supporters.” The annual foodie event raises funds for the Forbes Arts Society and injects over $400,000 into the local economy each year.
The committee has vowed to not let their hard work over the past two years go in vain and have already begun working towards Grazing Down the Lachlan 2022.
“We thank everyone for their support and understanding and look forward to welcoming you back ‘down the Lachlan’ when it is safe to do so.”
“Mark your diaries - Saturday 17th September 2022”, Wendy added.
